Welcome to the
Essential Guide to Ghostwriting

Affiliate Program!

Here's your chance to join in a top affiliate program that will make YOU money for any sale that comes out of your special link. All you need to do is recommend The Essential Guide To Ghostwriting to friends or other writers who might be interested in ghostwriting as a career option, or who have questions about setting up a ghostwriting service.

Earn over $30 from each sale!
(Your commission is 50% of the net profit
after Clickbank deducts its fees.)

The Essential Guide to Ghostwriting Affiliate program gives you HALF (50%) of the net profits for any sale that is made through your affiliate link. That means that for each sale you make, YOU get as much as I do! This commission is paid through Clickbank.com's well-regarded and trustworthy affiliate program. The process is entirely automatic, and checks are generated once every two weeks for affiliates.

Here's how it works.

(NOTE: If you already know how affiliate programs work, jump to the bottom of the page to get your affiliate link and a cover image for The Essential Guide to Ghostwriting.)

1. What is an affiliate program?

An affiliate program is simply a way of earning a commission for the work you do in helping to sell a product or a service on the Internet... in this case, our e-book on Ghostwriting. (Think if it as a little like being the owner of a book store - every time you sell a book, a percentage of the cover price goes to you. Except that when it comes to e-books, the book store is in your own home!)

(NOTE: You can join any number of affiliate programs on the Internet. Every time someone buys a book through your affiliate link, you get a commission. People have set up whole businesses just based on getting affiliate commissions.)

2. How do I sell e-books?

If you want to do it on a casual basis, you can simply recommend good e-books or software to your friends and family. The secret is to recommend ONLY books that you KNOW they'll be interested in. Don't join every affiliate program out there and then blast your poor friends with email after email, trying to sell everything under the sun! (Everyone hates to be 'sold' things.)

  • For example, if you have a friend who is a writer, or who is thinking about giving up work to see if he/she can make a living from home, this e-book would probably interest them.

  • If you have another friend who is into breeding goldfish, and you find an e-book on goldfish, then THAT e-book would fit their needs.

All you have to do is send out an email recommending the book, using the special affiliate link you'll get, and that's it. Your friend clicks through to look at the site - and if they buy the e-book, then half of the sale price goes to you. (Different affiliate programs have different commissions. Many offer 50% commission, but some offer less.)

If you have a website related to a particular interest (such as writing!) then you can look for a whole range of e-books on that subject, and sell them all from your website. OR... if you have a newsletter that goes out to a group that would be interested in the e-book, you can tell them about it.

3. How do I get paid?

The affiliate program is all run by Clickbank - the minute you make a sale, the commission is automatically debited from my account, credited to your Clickbank account, and they send out the checks. So easy! NOTE: YOU decide on the amount you want your paycheck to reach before it is sent to you. The minimum is set at $10 (which you would easily make from most affiliate sales). You can decide all that when you set up your Clickbank account (which is free for affiliates).

4. How do I join up?

a) First you need a Clickbank NICKNAME. This takes only a few minutes to arrange, and is easy to do. TIP: Use something short and easy such as xxturbo or jazz50. You need to choose 5-10 letters & digits. (Give your real name on the address form... just choose something different for your Clickbank nickname.)

Here's where you go to sign up with Clickbank:  https://ssl.clickbank.net/signup/

b) When you have your new Clickbank nickname, you can insert it into the link for any Clickbank product. Any commission earned from sales will go in your Clickbank account. It all goes into the same account, even if you are selling 10 different products.

c) How to insert your Clickbank nickname into the Essential Guide to Ghostwriting link: At the bottom of the page, you will find the BASIC affiliate link for The Essential Guide to Ghostwriting - to make it YOURS, simply substitute YOUR OWN CLICKBANK NICKNAME in where the red bit is:

The basic link looks like this:

http://AFFILIATE.ghostbook.hop.clickbank.net

An example of what it looks like when you insert your own link:

If I had used jazz50 when I signed up for my Clickbank affiliate name, then my link to gain an affiliate commission from the Essential Guide to Ghostwriting e-book would look like this:

http://jazz50.ghostbook.hop.clickbank.net

You don't need to use colors, of course. I'm just using color here to help you see which bits you have to change.

IMPORTANT:

To add your own nickname to the link, either type it out as a new link, or copy and paste it into a plain text editor like Notepad, then substitute your own Clickbank Nickname as show above.

WHY USE A PLAIN TEXT EDITOR AND NOT MICROSOFT WORD?

For a very good reason. If you open Microsoft Word and paste in a link, the word processor will automatically convert it into a HYPERLINK (that is, a link that is underlined in blue and 'clickable') Now, if you know how to edit a hyperlink, this won't matter... but if you don't, you might find that even if you change the words "YOUR CLICKBANK NICKNAME" to your real nickname, it won't appear in the underlying code. And that means you won't get your commission!!! Aarrrgghh! (But don't worry... this won't happen if you change your link in a plain text editor. And I'm going to show you how to test your link to make sure it's OK, too.)

Just use NOTEPAD (if you are using a Windows computer) or the equivalent plain text editor on your Mac.

In Windows, you can find and open Notepad here: START/ACCESSORIES/NOTEPAD. (The 'Start' menu is the green button in the left hand bottom corner of your screen.)

To test your affiliate link, do this:

After you've put your own Clickbank nickname in the link, you can test it as follows, by going through PART of the 'buy' process:

(I'm going to do this using my imaginary Clickbank affiliate link of 'jazz50')

1. Click on the 'Essential Guide to Ghostwriting' affiliate link that you've made using your Clickbank nickname. Just copy it from your plain text editor and paste it into your web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer)

2. If it's working, it should take you through to the Essential Guide to Ghostwriting site. If this doesn't happen, CHECK ALL PARTS OF YOUR LINK. You have probably cut some bits out.

3. When it takes you through to the site, pretend you're the buyer. Scroll down the page and click on the 'buy now' link...

4. Which takes you through to the first Clickbank page. Type in your COUNTRY and POSTCODE then click 'Continue to Step 2'.

5. This takes you through to the next Clickbank page. If you were a real buyer, this is where you would type in the information Clickbank needs to complete the sale. This is also where you can check that your affiliate link is working. Simply scroll right down to the bottom of this page... and you will see a small notation like this: [affiliate = "jazz50"]

If you can see your link there, then it's all working just as it's supposed to be. You can now close the page and start sending out your affiliate link to anyone who might be interested in buying the Essential Guide to Ghostwriting e-book.

DO NOT SPAM PEOPLE. This means that you should NOT send this link out to anyone and everyone, regardless of whether they're interested in ghostwriting or not! Send it only to friends or relatives that would genuinely want to read about how to get work as a ghostwriter. (Or, if you have a writing newsletter or similar and you want people to know about this new product, you could include the link in that.)

How To Set the Limit for Your ClickBank Paycheck

The good thing about being an affiliate is, of course, that you get a nice paycheck every couple of weeks! Here is how you set the paycheck limits in your Clickbank Account:

Step 1: Go to the main Clickbank page and click on "Login" at top right hand corner of page.

Step 2: You will be taken to the main Clickbank page where you can see your sales details. Scroll to the bottom of this page. There you will see all the links related to different aspects of your Clickbank account.

Click on "Click HERE to view or modify your account settings."

Step 3. On the next page, you have several options... to view your stats, modify your account and so on. You need to click on "Click HERE to modify your account."

You should see the details you filled in when you signed up... your account will be whatever nickname you chose (jazz50 or janebiz70 or whatever...) along with your email address and phone number. You can update these at any time.

Now for the important bit: this is where you set the PAYCHECK BALANCE. If you are not likely to be making many affiliate sales, you might want to set your paycheck balance at $10, so you will be paid promptly whenever you do make a sale. Keep in mind, though, that you will have to pay processing fees at your bank when the check arrives. If you live outside the USA, you might prefer to set your balance higher... so you're paying just one processing fee for a larger check, rather than a series of fees for smaller checks.

Choose your paycheck balance and click on the 'save changes' button at left.

Now, here is the main thing you will need to become a part of this affiliate program - the BASIC affiliate link for The Essential Guide to Ghostwriting:
